It’s day two of Blogalicious Weekend 2010 in Miami and auto giant GM is on the scene displaying its brand new 2011 Buick Regal that’s equipped with a new feature, OnStar Facebook status update. This unique amenity is a cool tool for social media junkies. Although it’s only in Beta stage, it will allow fans to use OnStar’s voice-activated feature to update their Facebook status and listen to news feeds.
Also, GM hosted a breakout session. At many of the conferences that this writer has attended in the past, these sessions were typically as fun and interesting as watching paint dry. But, the Blogalicious social media conference sessions are different. It’s one of those rare opportunities when you can’t wait until the sessions begin because the panels are so informative and timely, keeping you up to date on different aspects of social media from what you can do to expand your reach and broaden your horizons to bringing you face-to-face with decision makers.
This afternoon’s breakout session, which was moderated by @JenEcclestone, featured panelists: @nycitymama, @lizawashere and @ gm_joe and discussed how to write rockin’ product reviews, the importance of full disclosure when bloggers receive free products and adhering to FTC guidelines, why developing a niche blog is important and why authentic bloggers are a godsend to companies.
Congrats to @SwarthyDaisy and @TowandaL, winners of the FlipCam for their prolific and speedy tweets during the session. Follow their timelines to see what you missed and visit topsy.com and search the hashtag: #buicklicious.
Now I’m off to see Waiting for Superman. –yvette caslin
