A capacity crowd filled the Metro Fitness center to witness professional boxing at its best. The “Protect & Serve” boxing series featured several elite pro boxers and up-and-coming fighters on the undercard.
Jaidon Codrington of the hit reality TV show “The Contender” returned to the ring and scored a TKO over Jessie Davis. Codrington improved his overall record to 20-2.
Former Olympian Josue Blocus improved to 16-2 by knocking out Daryl Holley in the first round.
Atlanta’s Darnell Boone battled undefeated Russian boxer Sergey Kovalev in the main event. The two battled for seven rounds while trading punches that could topple a building. Although Boone knocked Kovalev down twice, the judges awarded Kovalev the split decision.
The “Protect & Serve” boxing series raises money for equipment, uniforms and scholarships for the kids who participate in the Atlanta Police Athletic League. –a.r.
