T.I. played the role of negotiator on Tuesday, Oct. 13 by talking a man out of jumping from the roof of a 22-story building. The rapper heard about the man’s suicide attempt as he listened to the radio while en route to a video shoot. But instead of going to the video shoot, T.I. decided to proceed to the scene to find out if he could lend assistance.
The police accepted T.I.’s request and he taped a short video message, which was delivered to the man. Shortly after seeing the video, the man decided not to jump and went downstairs to speak with T.I.
“It had to be destiny that made that happen,” T.I. said during an interview with Ryan Cameron of V-103. “I wanted to do whatever to resolve it peacefully. Joshua believed in us, he took our word for it. … My message was that I was looking forward to meeting him and that no matter what’s going on in life, it gets better. I know that from experience.”
On Oct 15., T.I. will face a judge and find out how much time in prison he will receive for violating his probation after being caught with a controlled substance and testing positive for drugs. His probation officer suggested that the rapper be sentenced to 14 months in prison. Judge Charles Pannell Jr. is assigned to T.I.’s case and is currently going over the evidence.
Will the judge be swayed by T.I.’s altruistic act and give him a reduced sentence, or will the rapper be given a hefty sentence for violating his probation despite his good deed? –a.r.
