White Teacher Accused of Slamming Black Student's Head Into a WallA teacher at Mount Vernon High school in Westchester County, New York, was accused of attacking a student this week. According to authorities, Kelly Oram, a 51-year-old music teacher at the school for the past three years, got angry with a 13-year-old boy for acting up in class.
Oram
is white and the victim is black.

Students say the teacher is known for being friendly and is one of the most liked instructors in the school.

A police spokesmen said Oram threw the student to the floor, dragged him out of the classroom by the back of the neck, and then shoved him up against a wall, causing the boy’s head to hit an alarm box. Next, he allegedly threw a backpack at the student and slammed the door.

This is the second of such events to occur in the nation in two weeks. In Tennessee, a teacher was captured on cell phone video throwing desks and chairs around in the classroom. No students were injured in that incident.

Oram has been reassigned to administrative work until the internal and criminal investigations are completed. He has been charged with harassment and endangering the welfare of a child. His expected court date is Oct. 27. –torrance stephens, ph.d.
