Jim Colon is one of the most important figures in the automotive industry. As the vice president of Toyota product communications for Toyota Motor Sales, Colon establishes innovative ways to reach the community while branding new Toyota products.
Colon was on hand at the launch of the Toyota Green Initiative that kicked off at Bowie State University’s homecoming on Oct 15.
“The Toyota Green Initiative is an extension of our key focus to support educational and environmental programs,” Colon says. “It also provides our future leaders [with] the tools and resources to be environmental stewards in local communities.”
During Bowie State University’s homecoming weekend, Colon joined actor Lance Gross and Earthseed to educate students on the importance of living a green lifestyle. The group hosted a lecture series at the university and provided tips on to how to eat healthfully, conserve energy and be eco-conscious.
Colon and Toyota also introduced the 2011 Toyota Prius Hybrid. Students were able to sign up for a chance to win a one-year lease of the Toyota Prius.
Colon believes that the Toyota Green Initiative tour will encourage a change for the future. “Toyota continues to work towards sustaining mobility,” he says. “Toyota strives to preserve the natural environment and establish systems to provide a brighter future for coming generations.” –a.r.
