“Your network is your net worth!” Undoubtedly, if you’ve ever attended a Steed Media Group event, you have heard the publisher, Munson Steed make that declaration. Recently, I attended the Atlanta Business League’s Super Tuesday Conference, and those famous words reverberated. “This concept was founded twenty six years ago by female members of the Atlanta Business League (ABL), who felt there was not a forum where African American female entrepreneurs and executives, could come together and be recognized,” stated ABL president and CEO Leona Barr-Davenport.
The ABL’s Super Tuesday Conference included workshops, symposiums, a live remote by WCLK 91.9 FM, the “Success Against the Odds” awards luncheon and numerous opportunities to network with professionals from various industries. “For everyone who attends the Super Tuesday Conference, both men and women can expect lessons from experts in various disciplines. There are experts here in finance, technology, brand building and building successful businesses,” President Barr-Davenport said.
Whether you are a corporate executive, enthusiastic entrepreneur or a sales professional, it is imperative that you build strategic alliances that are beneficial to all parties involved. There is no better way to meet the right people with synergistic interests than to join — at the very least —one of your local business organizations like the ABL. Here you will find business people who have encountered similar obstacles. More importantly you will find beacons who have experienced accomplishments that will motivate you to be the best person in business that you can be, even when times get hard. –al weems
