When Kanye West sat down on Elle DeGeneres’ sofa on Oct. 19, he was flashing a brilliant new smile: gold and diamond-encrusted teeth in his lower jaw.
We have one word: ghetto. Fabulous. OK, that’s two words.
Here are excerpts from the convo:
Ellen: What’s with the grill? … Is that on top of your teeth … do you take your teeth out … it’s diamonds and gold … you just put this on top of your teeth?
Kanye: It’s really my real teeth. … It’s like [I] replace[d] my bottom row …
Ellen: So you ripped out all of your teeth and put in that?
Kanye: I just thought the diamonds were cooler.
‘Ye, a lot of people are hurting right now, here are three things you could have done with all that money to make a difference in the world. And yes, it’s his money and he has a right to spend it as he pleases, but West obviously needs some direction in his life.
1. Put a psychiatrist on retainer: Self-explanatory.
2. Make a large donation to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America: For a lot of children, the Boys & Girls Clubs provide a safe haven from the dangers and ills of the urban environment. Those diamonds could have funded a lot of programs that are a lifeline for black children, especially boys.
3. Make a sizable contribution to the United Negro College Fund or an HBCU: Many families are struggling to pay their children’s tuition bills. What a gift to them and the world to help a talented student get the education he or she will need to be competitive in the marketplace.
