Keri Hilson and Big Boi Talk About the Importance of Education

It is always good to see celebrities take the time to talk to young people about education. Ciara recently stressed the importance of staing in school on BET’s “106 & Park,” and now Keri Hilson and Big Boi shared their advice with students at Chicago’s Collins Academy High School on Thursday, Oct. 21. Hilson and Big Boi spoke on behalf of the Get Schooled National Challenge and Tour. After Ms. Keri Baby performed her most popular song, “Knock You Down,” she spoke to the students.

“I think the key to making it through high school and life in general is knowing what’s important, attacking that, and executing everything,” said Hilson, who was a former co-captain of her high school basketball team in Atlanta.

Big Boi continued to pursue his education even after OutKast became a big hit. “Before I started doing music, I was actually planning on going to school to study child psychology, but when I was in 11th grade we went platinum, [however], I still finished [high school] and graduated with honors,” he said.
