Ghouls, ghosts and goblins weren’t the only creatures on the prowl on Halloween. There are demons in the black community who are more terrifying than Freddy Krueger, Mike Myers and Jigsaw. These villains have left a trail of physical and emotional terror throughout our neighborhoods. Here are the three scariest villains of the black community. –a.r.
Dadbeat Dads – It”s unrealistic to believe that every couple who has kids together will be able to remain in a relationship. But all men have a responsibility to take care of the children that they helped to create. The pervasive number of black kids who grow up without any support from their fathers is appalling. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 90 percent of all homeless and runaway children and 85 percent of all children that exhibit behavior disorders come from fatherless homes.
Pedophiles with Power – The only thing worse than a pedophile is a pedophile who has power in the community. Although Bishop Eddie Long recently made headlines for allegedly abusing young men who attended his church, he isn’t the only person accused of using a position of power to manipulate a child. There are numerous teachers, coaches and religious leaders who have gained the trust and respect of the community only to let us all down by abusing kids.
Ignorant Rappers – Now don’t get us wrong, artists should be able to express themselves freely, but with said freedom comes responsibility. Rappers who brag about dealing drugs, killing other black people, and disrespecting black women are perpetuating and teaching dysfunction to a community that’s become overwhelmed by it.
