Former President George W. Bush recently sat down with Matt Lauer of NBC News to record an interview that will air on Nov. 8 on “Matt Lauer Reports.”
During the interview, Lauer asked Bush about Kanye West’s rant during a live Hurricane Katrina telethon in which he said, “George Bush doesn’t care about black people.”
Bush responded to West’s remarks by saying, “He called me a racist. And I didn’t appreciate it then. I don’t appreciate it now. It’s one thing to say, ‘I don’t appreciate the way he’s handled his business.’ It’s another thing to say, ‘This man’s a racist.’ I resent it, it’s not true, and it was one of the most disgusting moments in my presidency.”
Although Bush has the right to disagree with West’s remarks, he remains clueless to reality because he had far more disgusting moments during his presidency. Several disastrous moments and mistakes made by Bush include FEMA’s pathetic response to help Gulf Coast citizens after Hurricane Katrina; the failure to find of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq; ignoring a pre-Sept. 11 memo sent by the CIA weeks before the attacks; tax cuts for the wealthy that eventually played a key role in creating the recession; prematurely declaring victory in Iraq in 2003 as the war continues at an overall price tag of $600 billion worth of tax dollars provided by U.S. citizens.
Bush did a great job of destroying this country without the help of Kanye West. But with the overwhelming Republican support that occurred during this year’s election, it’s obvious that the majority of U.S. citizens are too uneducated to realize that it will take President Barack Obama more than two years to fix the most disgusting presidency in U.S. history. –amir shaw
