Actress Diane Keaton Wants to Work With Jay-Z and Kanye: White Folks in Rap, Really?

altThe circuit-endings in my brain snapped and began leaking out of my ears when I had an eyeball-defying sight — watching silver-haired CNN host Wolf Blitzer doing the Dougie on the Soul Train Awards. Now veteran actress Dianne Keaton, who busts a few rhymes with 50 Cent in Morning Glory, wants to channel her inner hip-hop and collaborate with Jay-Z and Kanye West.

Black theatergoers still get acid reflux when anyone even mentions that cesspool of a movie, Bulworth, that starred Warren Beatty as a rap-spewing politician. It’s about time to halt the white geriatric stampede into the realm of hip-hop.

Keaton wants to scratch her hip-hop itch after her appearance with 50 Cents in the upcoming motion picture Morning Glory which drops in theaters on Nov. 10. In the movie, Keaton raps alongside 50.

Don’t know who the 64-year-old Keaton is? Actually most of you do. Being the disciples of gangster films that we are, most will recall that she played Michael Corleone’s wife/ex-wife in all three Godfather movies. But, being that the first Godfather flick came out in 1972, Keaton’s acting career alone is older than the official beginning of hip-hop.

“I do have a daughter who is 15, and that made it even more humiliating because she thought I was just such an idiot. And she wasn’t wrong,” Keaton told the Associated Press. “That’s my rap debut and that’s the end of me as a rapper. I won’t be working with Kanye, or Jay-Z.”

That may have been a way to save face with her neighbors in Bel Air. But then Keaton flips the script when she adds: “Jay-Z and Kanye have not called. I would like to. I’m available, guys.”

Uhh, stop right there, Diane. Get back in your lane and remain there — and pass on that message to Wolf Blitzer for me. –terry shropshire
