Wyclef’s failed presidential bid should have pushed him to the background when it came to public discourse over his homeland, Haiti. Not so. The former Fugees frontman has been hard at work in the studio creating the soundtrack for that experience. The upcoming album, If I Were President: My Haitian Experience, is set to hit stores Dec. 7 and promises to chronicle his attempt to lead his country.
The first single, “Election Time” taps into the spirit of that failed movement, and also does a wonderful job of highlighting the rarely seen beauty of Haiti’s landscape and people.
