Beyoncé recently sat down with “Nightine” to promote her new I Am … tour DVD. During the interview, the megastar opened up on everything from the pregnancy rumors, to her need to remove all yes-men from her camp. Here’s an excerpt from the interview. –djr
On the constant speculation that she’s pregnant:
“[There] was nothing [to the rumors] then, and there’s nothing now. It will be one day … definitely, one day. One of the reasons why I haven’t had a child yet is because I feel like there are certain things I wanted to do before I had a child so I can really, really focus on being a mother. And I’m getting closer to that point but I’m still in such a great place in my career that I feel like I want to wait until I’m really, really ready. It’s difficult because one day I will decide to have a child and I want people to be excited. They’re going to be like ‘Lord, OK whatever, she’s been pregnant 25 times.’ ”
On her dislike of yes-men:
“I don’t want those people around me. You know the second that happens, your videos start looking a little crazy; your music starts [looking crazy]. It is eventually going to catch up with you, and that is not appealing at all. I want people to be respectful and have constructive criticism. I like to be around people who are really good at their job that I trust. But if something is wrong, I’m definitely going to try to make it right.”
