On Friday, Dec. 3, the Chicago Supplier Development Council set the tone for holiday festivities and raised the bar for all of the holiday parties to come in the 2010 Christmas season. Guests at the $100 a plate brunch held at the Hyatt Regency’s Crystal Ballroom dined, danced and delivered the goods for Chicago’s children by bringing new gifts and clothing for the less than fortunate.
The CMSDC is Chicago’s premier organization for increasing business opportunities between major buying organizations and minority suppliers. The organization’s accomplished president and CEO, Shelia Hill Morgan urges African American and minority business to forge ahead with new and established businesses.
“There is no time like the present to tap into your entrepreneurial spirit. … [It] opens the doors to new beginnings and allows minority entrepreneurs to engage some of the largest corporations to become contributors to their supply chains ” says Hill. The polished executive who was named one of the Chicago’s Top 25 Women of the Year on Thursday, Dec.2 also announced a partnership between the CMSDC and the Nielsen Company to host and sponsor the 44th Annual Chicago Business Opportunity Fair in April 2011.
Formerly known as the Chicago Minority Business Development Council, the CMSDC has been a leader in impacting and enhancing local and national business practices and works to effect legislation which assists minority businesses to compete on a national and global basis.-roz edward
