PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) is now accepting applications for its 2012 IMPACT Program Class. This scholar program is aimed at mentoring talented African American high school juniors through a rigorous college application process.
The Impact program is a unique community initiative and early minority talent program designed to help cultivate the next generation of leaders. Remarkably, the 2010 graduating class of Impact Program scholars has collectively been offered more than $18 million in scholarships by colleges and universities nationwide.
How it Works:
Students who become Impact scholars will participate in monthly workshops outside of school hours and at an off-site location. The workshops will help students:
- Learn to navigate the college planning and application process and help them get financial aid
- Prepare for pursuing higher education
- Broaden awareness of their college options and help prepare them for the admissions process
- Gain exposure to careers in the business and accounting professions
- Connect with PwC mentors who will share their experiences and act as a sounding board for career and academic decisions
- Gain exposure to leadership networks
Highly motivated high school juniors (11th grade) of Black/African American descent in the Atlanta metro area with accomplished academic backgrounds (3.2 GPA or B average), strong leadership skills, and plans to attend college after high school, are encouraged to apply.
Impact’s History
Impact is an educational community initiative that provides academically talented African American/black high school students with tools and strategies for navigating the college planning and financial aid process. PwC created the Impact program as part of its broader corporate responsibility commitment to motivate, educate and develop the next generation of youth leaders. Since launching in 2008, 100 percent of Impact graduates have matriculated into college and have received more than $18 million in scholarships by colleges and universities nationwide. How to Apply
Students interested in applying for the Impact program can download the application for their region at www.pwc.com/impact. Deadline for application is Thursday, December 9, 2010. Applicants will be reviewed, interviewed and selected by a PwC selection committee and then contacted about participation by late February. Students selected to participate will begin in March 2011 and continue through completion of their senior year of high school (May 2012).
