MLB Player Questions President’s U.S. Birth: ‘Obama Does Not Represent America’

altOne would think that most Americans would have given up on the ridiculous position of thinking that President Barack Obama is a Muslim or was not born in the United States. Think again, and this time it is from a well-known professional baseball player.

On Dec. 8, the Orioles’ designated hitter, Luke Scott, spoke with Dave Brown of Yahoo Sports at baseball’s winter meetings. During the discussion, Scott made a few remarks regarding socialism. Brown next asked him what he thought of the job Obama is doing. Scott responded, “Obama does not represent America. Nor does he represent anything that our forefathers stood for.”

The 32-year-old Scott questioned President Obama’s birthplace and claimed he did not represent the United States and added “He was not born here. That’s my belief. I was born here,” Scott said. ”If someone accuses me of not being born here, I can go — within 10 minutes — to my filing cabinet and I can pick up my real birth certificate and I can go, ‘See? Look! Here it is. Here it is.’ The man has dodged everything. He dodges questions, he doesn’t answer anything. And why? Because he’s hiding something.”

The Baltimore Orioles have already begun to distance themselves from Scott. “Luke Scott’s comments do not reflect the opinion of the Baltimore Orioles organization. The fact is that Barack Obama is our president, duly elected by the people of the United States. End of story,” said Greg Bader, director of communications for the team.

“Obama doesn’t represent freedom or free enterprise, [but rather] represents ‘Hey, everyone. Give me votes and I’ll give you stuff,’ ” Scott added.

Scott, who is arbitration-eligible this winter, had his career best season in 2010 with Baltimore and made $4.05 million.
