“American Idol” has been the catalyst for some of the most talented singers in the industry — Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia, Jennifer Hudson, and Clay Aiken just to name a few. Anoop Desai of “American Idol’s” season eight was among that incredible pool of talent that America fell in love with during his season. Though Kris Allen won the competition, Desai created quite a buzz and established an incredibly loyal following during his run. He is currently continuing his career and following in the footsteps of other “Idol” contestants with a new album, performing, writing, and living his dream.
The pop/R&B sensation’s exciting stage performance on “The Mo’Nique Show” will air Thursday, Dec. 16 at 11 p.m. EST. Desai also joins Shante Broadus, Aldis Hodge and Anjelah Johnson (Bon Qui Qui) on the couch for a one-on-one interview with the Academy Award-winning hostess Mo’Nique. Since leaving “Idol” Desai has continued to pursue his dreams through songwriting, producing and performing. In addition to the release of his first EP “All Is Fair” debuting at No. 14 on the Pop iTunes Chart, the title cut single peaked No.1 on iheartradio’s top 20 on-demand chart (clearchannelmusic.com).
“Having the opportunity to perform on ‘The Mo’Nique Show’ was amazing. I have to thank Mo’Nique, her crew, and her audience for being some of the most energetic and friendly people I’ve had the pleasure of being with during my time in Atlanta. The performance was my first national television appearance since being on “American Idol,” a mark that I’m proud to have gotten back to. I wanted to signify the occasion by bringing a great performance, so I enlisted the help of renowned choreographer CiCi Kelly and one of Raleigh’s best DJs, DJ Rang. We had a great time with “My Name” and the whole team is excited to watch the performance on air for the first time tonight,” Desai adds.
