Lil Kim, Not Nicki Minaj, Named the Top Trending Rapper on Twitter in 2010

In 2010, Nicki Minaj became a pop culture phenomenon. She demanded attention from the national media, had the support from label mates Lil Wayne and Drake, and her debut album, Pink Friday, sold 371,049 units in the first week of its release.

However, her hip-hop rival had a greater impact on Twitter.

According to People, Lil Kim was the most popular rapper on Twitter in 2010. The Brooklyn, N.Y.-bred rapper was ranked the sixth most popular person on Twitter behind Justin Bieber, Dilma Rouseff, Lady Gaga, Julian Assange and Mel Gibson.
However, Lil Kim may owe some of her popularity on Twitter to her persistent rap beef with Nicki Minaj. Besides the rap beef, Lil Kim was irrelevant when it came to making music.

In 2011, Lil Kim should forget about attacking Nicki Minaj with meaningless radio interviews and silly rap songs and concentrate more on releasing a hit single and album. –a.r.
