Hosted by board member and popular V-103 radio personality Osei Kweku, this year’s holiday celebration was held at Atlanta Cyclorama. More than 200 youth, politicians, socialites and supporters were in attendance.
Upon arrival, spectators were dazzled by the Jean Childs Young Middle School Jazz Ensemble as they played renditions of familiar tunes including “What a Wonderful World,” “Favorite Things” and “White Christmas.”
Performances by young vocalists, musicians and dancers continued throughout the night as a delicious Southern style dinner was served and visitors perused the museum’s many artifacts. Most notable was a powerful choral performance by Tri-Cities High School.
Patton, who led a scholarship presentation, shared that his inspiration for supporting the organization comes from a motto he’s lived by since he was young: “Each one, teach one.”
He hopes to continue to encourage youth to become socially conscious and intellectual individuals through humanities. –garrett webster
