Michael Jordan Makes Carmelo Anthony an Offer That He Easily Refuses

Michael Jordan is arguably the most influential basketball figure in the world. He retired as the greatest player to ever play in the NBA and his signature Jordan Brand is still one of the highest grossing sports apparel lines in the world.

However, Jordan’s influence apparently was not strong enough to sway NBA All-Star Carmelo Anthony. Jordan, the current owner of the Charlotte Bobcats, was interested in acquiring Anthony in a trade from the Denver Nuggets. But Anthony told Jordan that he would not sign an extension with the Bobcats if they traded for him. The Bobcats are currently one of the worst teams in the NBA.

Since entering the NBA, Anthony has had a close relationship with Jordan and will earn $6 million to endorse Brand Jordan in 2011.

Reportedly, Anthony hopes to sign with the New York Knicks at the end of the 2011 NBA season. –a.r.
