Rock and soul royalty Aretha Franklin claims that her major health issues have been “resolved”, but she refuses to state whether she has pancreatic cancer or provide updates on the status of her condition.
In an interview with Jet magazine, the Queen of Soul defiantly evaded inquiries into the specifics of what she ails from nor what treatment she is receiving, though she acknowledges that the public’s interest stem for their love for her.
“I know my fans are concerned,” she said. “Let them know I am feeling great and coming along.”
When Jet pressed for more information, Franklin, who has long battled obesity and the myriad of health ailments that sprout from being morbidly overweight, said she doesn’t have to offer any information about her personal life. This is a curious stance, giving that many people could receive encouragement and inspiration from her fight with pancreatic cancer, as has been reported.
“I am not one to do a lot of talking about my personal health or business. I don’t have to talk about my health with anybody other than my doctors. The problem has been resolved.”
Whatever Franklin suffers from, it was severe enough for the singer to cancel appearances through May 2011 and has been at home resting since undergoing surgery for an undisclosed ailment in mid-December. Her many fans can only hope that the problem has indeed been resolved. –terry shropshire
