January is the most wonderful time of the year for diehard football fans. The NFL’s Wild Card playoffs kick off is this weekend and eight teams will begin the journey towards the Super Bowl. –amir shaw
Philadelphia Eagles vs. Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers are becoming a sexy pick to reach the 2011 Super Bowl. They’re equipped with a dynamic quarterback (Aaron Rodgers) and a defense that will keep pressure on the opposing quarterback. Rodgers should be able to have his way with the Philadelphia Eagles’ anemic defensive secondary, but Michael Vick has a knack for doing amazing things in big games. Vick will give the Eagles a slight edge.
Prediction: Philadelphia Eagles 34 Green Bay Packers 27
Baltimore Ravens vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles will have to take control of the ground game early for the Chiefs to have a legitimate shot at beating the Baltimore Ravens. Although the Chiefs have only lost one home game this season, Ray Lewis and the Ravens’ stingy defense will give them the advantage.
Prediction: Baltimore Ravens 24 Kansas City Chiefs 10
New Orleans Saints vs. Seattle Seahawks
The NFL must raise the bar for teams that are eligible for the playoffs. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New York Giants both won ten games but were eliminated from the playoffs. However, the Seattle Seahawks snuck into the playoffs after winning the pathetic NFC West division with only seven victories and nine losses. The New Orleans Saints will win this game with ease.
Prediction: New Orleans Saints 34 Seattle Seahawks 9
Indianapolis Colts vs. New York Jets
Peyton Manning gave away several games this year by throwing costly interceptions during critical moments. But it’s hard to bet against Manning during the playoffs. The New York Jets were consistent for much of the season, but their defense will find it hard to control Manning for four quarters.
Prediction: Indianapolis Colts 28 New York Jets 17
