Terrence J and Rocsi Round Out Hottest On-Air Co-Host Love Affairs

altOur interactions with co-workers can affect a career and when you are in the media spotlight, the chemistry sometimes plays out in a public forum.

With that in mind, rolling out decided to take a look at the chemistry between several media co-hosts and lessons we can learn from them.

Agree to Disagree:

Steve Harvey and Shirley Strawberry

“The Steve Harvey Morning Show”

The on-air “Strawberry Letter” segment, during which Shirley reads the letter and gives advice from a female perspective, shows the strength of this relationship. Shirley defers to Steve for the final say.

Although she vocalizes her agreement with Steve throughout his discourse, they don’t always agree. They have learned the true art of compromise — learning to  disagree with respect in their approach with one another.

Sometimes Love Hurts:

Terence J and Rocsi

“106 and Park”

Co-hosts of BET’s highly rated “106 and Park,” these two have so much chemistry that it has often been questioned by the media as to whether or not they are more than just on camera “mates.” Their often passionate and intense interactions includes playful joking.

That back-and-forth banter reached critical mass in 2008 when Rocsi walked off stage during the live show, angered by demeaning remarks made by her co-host. While speculation swirled that it was a publicity stunt, predicting the end of the relationship and death of the show, the truth is that more than two years later they are still on the air together.

Play your position:

Mo’Nique and Rodney Perry

“The Mo’Nique Show”

While it is quite apparent that Mo’Nique is the leading lady, Rodney Perry is clearly her sidekick and front man, leading her onto the stage each weeknight.  He supports her, backs her up and has no issue with taking the backseat, yet stepping up when he’s called upon to.

Never lose your identity:

Angela Yee and Charlamagne

This “newlywed” media co-host crew demonstrate how to stay in their respective lanes, while working well together and being true to themselves. Yee, could easily intimidate any male co-host with her looks and talkative manner. However, Charlamagne, often controversial, blends his own style of keeping it real with humor while Yee has her ear to the ground on what’s going on in entertainment and brings it to the New York masses with her own style. –suncera johnson
