Ted Williams’ Sudden Fame and Exploitation Could Have Dire Consequences

Ted Williams' Sudden Fame and Exploitation Could Have Dire Consequences

Two weeks ago, Ted Williams was living on the streets of Ohio. Since a viral video allowed Williams to showcase his golden voice, he has been offered hundreds of jobs, met Kobe Bryant, and gained national media attention.

However, Williams’ sudden fame could be too much for him to handle. On Tuesday, Jan. 11, the former drug and alcohol addict was taken into custody at the Renaissance Hotel in Los Angeles after getting into an altercation with his daughter. Williams was eventually released and several bruises were visible on his face.

While it’s important for Williams to continue to obtain voice-over jobs, the national media should leave him and his family alone.

At this point, Williams’ rise to fame is being exploited. Dr. Phil McGraw, who no longer has a license to practice psychology since retiring in 2006, recently had Williams and his family on the Dr. Phil show for an intervention.

However, Dr. Phil only booked Williams and his family as guests on his show in order to boost ratings. Dr. Phil can’t help Williams by airing his personal problems on national TV.

If Dr. Phil really wanted to assist Williams, he would have put him in contact with a licensed family counselor who could have allowed him to deal with his issues in a private setting. Sadly, Williams is in a position to be taken advantage of by people who are presenting themselves as trustworthy. Unless Williams finds a way to keep the media out of his personal life, we will witness another tragic fall. amir shaw
