Site: Talking With Tami
Founder: Tammie Reed
Since: 2007
Site’s Personality: Creative, sincere, loving and fun
Why is your site important?
My blog started out as a place that my family could come to see pictures of my kids and things that I was up to since I moved away. It grew from that. Now it’s where I can give people some pink shine mixed with fashion, the arts, restaurants, lifestyle and entertainment and more.
Is it profitable?
Yes, I make money [from] ads placed on my blog. Some advertisers have been there since I started. I also host lots of social media events and charge for consultation for beginning bloggers. I am also a brand ambassador Princess and work with over 600 companies and over 300 PR and marketing firms.
*Advice that I have for newbies would be to be consistent. If you really want to be a blogge,r you have to put up content daily to keep up your hits.
Describe your relationship with your readers.
My readers are a hot mess, but so am I. [laughs]. … We are all like family; I love my readers and they think I am very funny, yet positive. I have had as many as 10,000 unique visitors a day to 1,200 a day depending on the subject matter. It really depends on the content or the celebrity that I have interviewed or event that I attended.
How do you link to other bloggers and get the word out to others that you have a blog? Is connecting to other bloggers important?
If it’s a very Pinktabulous blog, I will shoot that blogger an e-mail and introduce myself and ask if we can do a link exchange. They usually oblige and I return the favor on my blog roll. It’s very important that bloggers connect with other bloggers because potential marketing and PR firms look for those type of things.
What role does Twitter play in your life? Facebook? LinkedIn?
I swore that I would not join another networking site after MySpace but I have found Facebook as a great tool for what I am doing and Twitter is Pinktastic for me. People really get to know the real me on Twitter with my funny commentary. I have a great following from both sites.
What other social media do you utilize?
I have a Web show that I do weekly on Mondays at 11 a.m. on MingleMediaTv (www.minglemediatv.com/TalkingWithTami.html). I’ve been doing it for two years now. I do event recaps, show cool products and do my rants and raves. People get to chat with me and win prizes, too. I also have a YouTube (www.youtube.com/user/talkingwithtami) channel where I do test drives with the latest cars, interviews with celebrities and more.
Do you consider yourself a journalist?
I do not consider myself a journalist. [i’m] more of a talk show host [and] socialite that blogs.
What do you do when you are not blogging?
When I am not blogging I’m thinking about what I will blog about next [laughs]. Besides that, I love to vintage shop, spend time with my crazy kids and hubby and go to great parties.
