I am the co-owner of Today’s Military Spouse. (www.todaysmilitaryspouse.com).
Why is your site important?
I think we hear the war stories and the horrible side of the military life way too much, but not many people are privy to the exciting side we lead as well as the juicy tales of living on a military base.
Is it profitable?
I do receive a financial return from ads which I get paid directly. I also do blog blasts and sponsored posts for companies as well as host Twitter parties for brands.
Do you have any advice for up-and-coming bloggers on how they can generate income from their blogs?
For … bloggers seeking to obtain income, I suggest taking time to invest in your blog and creating entertaining content to increase your loyal traffic. Higher statistics and good traffic will increase the money you receive from legit ad networks as well as pique interest from brands seeking to advertise and work with you on compensated campaigns.
How do readers respond to you? How many readers do you get to your blog per day?
My niche is so directly focused that … I can humbly say that no one else does what I do in this niche. So, it is safe to say that my readers respond to me very well because they know they can absolutely identify with me. My blog receives over 660 visitors a day and receives over 20,000 monthly hits, which is great in such a small niche.
How do you link to other bloggers and get the word out to others that you have a blog? Is connecting to other bloggers important?
I frequent several other blogs, and I simply comment and show my genuine interest in their blogs and reach out to them … through various social outlets. Connecting to other bloggers is extremely important and … is the key to showcasing your blog to others.
What role does Twitter play in your life? Facebook? LinkedIn?
While many have connected on … Twitter, I have latched onto Facebook. Facebook is where 80 percent of my traffic comes from. I make great use of my “Like Page” which has over 5,400 fans and grows daily. Twitter is great because I can link to my Facebook page and repost tweets. … I can stay in the loop easily.
What other social media do you utilize?
I am a huge fan of YouTube and would venture to say that the rest of my blog traffic comes from there and the various videos that I create which usually direct people to my site. I have created an audience there as well.
Do you consider yourself a journalist?
No, I think to be a true journalist is an art, and I would never take away from those who have studied the craft.
What do you do when you are not blogging?
When am I not blogging? [Smiles] … I normally am engaging with my audience on Facebook, working on my site, or venturing out to create video (vlogging) footage.
