“The Madd Hatta Morning Show” has a stellar reputation in the community. How does that make you feel?

It’s very humbling. Especially when listeners call in and say we are their morning cup of coffee or can tell you verbatim everything on the show. Listeners are family. We share highs [and] lows with each other and have fun. It’s a blessing to be with the same team for years. I’m a hometown girl who entered a competition in search of a dream, and nine years later I am still living it.

There are a lot of female radio personalities who are starting to have their presence felt in the streets, how do you continue to stay ahead of the pack?

I share my journey and I focus on being the best me I can be. We all have unique qualities that make us special and that people can relate to. I embrace all the female radio personalities. I am all about girl power and I’ve always wanted to do a ladies show. I know it will be something special.

What do you think about hip-hop’s most influential artists being caught in the revolving door called jail?

People love a great comeback story. As long the artists continue to make great music and stay connected to their fan base, it is just another chapter in their story.

What projects do you have in the works?

I am the national host for The Dream Tour, created by the first African American to walk in space, Dr. Bernard Harris Jr., which encourages student to pursue STEM subjects: science, technology, engineering and mathematics. It’s been really cool traveling all over the country from Anchorage, Alaska to Billings, Montana, San Diego, Philly encouraging kids to dream big and believe in themselves. I am finishing my first book, and you can keep up with all my exclusive interviews [at] www.nneteworld.com/
