Veteran McDonald’s Franchise Owner Dedicated to the Success of African American Franchisees
OAKBROOK, Ill. (Feb. 21, 2011) – The National Black McDonald’s Operators Association (NBMOA), one of the largest and most influential African American organizations in the United States recently elected 22-year McDonald’s franchise veteran, Roland Parrish as Chair and CEO.
As chair of the 39-year-old organization, Parrish leads a group of McDonald’s Owner/Operators that own more than 1,400 McDonald’s restaurants throughout the United States with annual sales collectively exceeding $3.2 billion. Dedicated to ensuring the success of McDonald’s African American franchisees, while advocating for expanding opportunities for African Americans in the McDonald’s System, Parrish is honored by the election.
“I am proud to serve as head of this esteemed organization,” said Parrish. “As a McDonald’s franchisee who has owned restaurants for more than 20 years, I am well aware of the importance and influence of the NBMOA within the McDonald’s system, as well as, in our communities. I look forward to building a stronger and united organization.”
Parrish’s career and success is founded upon his passion for education and supporting the community. Parrish currently owns 25 McDonald’s restaurants in North Texas with sales of more than $50 million annually. For the last six years his company, Parrish McDonald’s Restaurants, Ltd., has been named to Black Enterprise magazine’s BE 100, as one of the Top 100 Black Owned Businesses in the U.S., based on sales volume.
Like many franchises, Parrish pursued McDonald’s franchise ownership after a successful corporate career. Parrish worked his way through the ranks of Exxon Co. USA for 13 years before leaving the company as an award-winning District Manager overseeing three states for retail operations.
Parrish earned his Bachelor of Science in Management from Purdue University and a Master of Business Administration at Purdue’s Krannert School of Business. An avid supporter of his alma mater, Parrish recently gifted $2 million to support the university’s Management and Economics Library renovation project. The library will be named the Roland G. Parrish Library of Management and Economics and is scheduled for completion in 2012. The library will also bear distinction as Purdue’s first major campus facility named in honor of an African-American alumnus.
