“If there was no man in the world for Oprah, I think maybe Gayle would be enough for her — perfect for her,” said Chevalier. “They were made for each other.”
As Chevalier recalls from his four-month love affair with Winfrey, the talk show queen and her best friend always had a special bond with each other.
“They were always laughing, telling jokes and every time they saw each other, they were happy,” he said of the pair.
For years now, Winfrey and King have denied that they’re anything more than friends. Recently, in an emotional interview with ABC anchor Barbara Walters, Winfrey expressed that she’s “not a lesbian … not even kinda lesbian.” But, Chevalier’s position seems to be that maybe she should try it.
In the interview, her ex alludes to the idea that Winfrey had a dependent relationship with both King and her longtime boyfriend, Stedman Graham.
“I don’t know if it was ever a huge priority for her to have a man in her life,” he said. “But she didn’t want to be alone, you know what I mean … She needs someone close to her all the time.”
Despite his claim that Winfrey and King are the perfect pair, Chevalier insists that he thinks their relationship is “normal” and that he doesn’t believe the persistent gay rumors surrounding the two.
“They’re just good friends and close — a little more than what two sisters would be.”
