The moment our plane touched down at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, Airtran passengers let out a collective gasp as the pilot announced that the temperature was only 19 degrees.

The frigid temperatures forced everyone to bundle up in a southwestern city that oddly resembled the weather that’s more common in the North.

As the host city for Super Bowl XLV, Dallas has been embarrassed by a snow storm that has blanketed the city and created havoc.

Three hundred flights were cancelled at DFW and the Texas DOT was ill-prepared for the six inches of snow. The snow eventually turned into ice and caused the roads to become slick.

With a limited amount of salt trucks in the Dallas area, many of the roads weren’t treated and caused accidents and lengthened commute times.

Hundreds of vendors and party promoters are losing money due to a lack of consumers and partygoers who were willing to test the roadways.
And in Arlington, TX, seven people suffered injuries after ice fell from the roof of Cowboys Stadium.
However, the Super Bowl festivities should resume without many glitches today. With a high temperature of 40 degrees, the city of Dallas will finally get a slight chance to thaw out. –amir shaw
