Rapper Da Brat was released from prison on Feb. 28 after completing a three year sentence for aggravated assault. Now Brat is opening up about being free and what the future holds for her.
In an interview with xxlmag.com, Brat explains what life has been like for her now that she’s returned home.
“It’s been crazy, everybody has been hitting me up,” said the Chicago native. “I’m in the A [Atlanta] doing house arrest. I have this nice leg monitor jewelry. I’ma put some Swarovski crystals on this.”
Brat did have a bit of freedom while serving out her sentence, having been placed in a work-release program back in May.
“I actually had more freedom in the work-release program because I got to [go] home on pass,” said Brat. “In the transition center you work and go back and forth to your job. When you’re on pass, you can go home. But I ain’t trippin’. It’s all good. All of this will be over soon.”
Brat also revealed that she may be off of house arrest in as little as three to six months. Now that the rapper is free, the question on everyone’s mind is, will she be making a return to the music scene?
“I’m getting some beats sent to me right now from JD. I wasn’t really motivated in there to write,” said the “Funkdafied” emcee. “I need to be able to hear some fire beats and I need to hear it loud. I got 2 1/2 years of s– built up that I need to talk about. I’m ready to get it in. I can’t wait.”
