BET's Ed Gordon Serves as Keynote Speaker for Black MBA Group's Scholarship BanquetThe Houston chapter of the National Black MBA Association held its 14th Annual Leadership Empowerment Scholarship Banquet, “Connecting Leaders of Today with Leaders of Tomorrow,” on Thursday, Feb. 24, at the Power Center.

Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee introduced keynote speaker Ed Gordon, BET correspondent and an award-winning journalist. Gordon addressed the topics of leadership, business and the determination necessary to propel to success.


In keeping with the NBMBAA’s principles of serving black professionals, representatives of various fields garnered BET's Ed Gordon Serves as Keynote Speaker for Black MBA Group's Scholarship Banquetawards at the memorable gala. Honorees included Evangeline Mitchell, Esq., government/law; Elwyn Lee, Ph.D., education; Jackie Thomas Jr., community; Otto Meyers III,  corporate business; Lloyd Gite, arts/media; John Cole, journalism/sports; John Guess III, entrepreneurship; and Gary Sheppard, M.D., science/ medicine.

Each year at the banquet, the NBMBAA Houston Chapter offers enrollment into their highly successful Leaders of Tomorrow high school mentoring program and presents scholarships to undergraduates and graduate students. –alex green
