Black Hair Salon Owner and Author Michelle Johnson Has a Word From God for Industry Peers

Salon owner and veteran hair stylist Michelle Johnson received a calling from God to put an end to different types of behaviors that she’s witnessed in the hair industry. The owner of the Fountain of Love Hair Salon penned a book titled, God’s Word for Cosmetologists and Barbers.

My book was given to me by God to challenge beauty industry [professionals] to change our attitudes, character, and how we treat our clients and salon owners,” shares Johnson.

Johnson is an expert on the subject because she’s been in the industry for 15 years and a salon owner for the past three years. “In Chapter 1, I uplift stylists and encourage them to go on and I deal with their character; there are a lot of us who don’t have [good] character,” she says.

Johnson spreads the word about her book by visiting hair schools and at events like the Bronner Bros. International Hair Show, where she met this writer. “There are so many of us and we are making good money but we don’t have any integrity and character. We don’t know how to treat people. That’s why I am pushing this book, so I can be one of those to help change the industry. I go everywhere I can to help make a difference,” she closes.

Johnson is based in Memphis, Tenn., and is a member of Grace Christian Fellowship Church.  –yvette caslin
