Lil Wayne Claims He’s Retiring at 35

Lil Wayne is without a doubt one of the hottest and most acclaimed rappers in the music industry. But fans better enjoy the Young Money chief while they can because the 28-year-old rapper says he seriously plans to retire his mic by the time he’s 35.

In a recent interview with Hot 97’s DJ Angie Martinez, the notoriously hardworking rapper explained that although music has become the fulfilling focus of his life these days, he doesn’t want to rap into the microphone forever.

“This is my life. That’s why retiring at 35 would be like, that’s a life lived, because this music thing is my life,” he said. “So retiring at 35 would be enough. This is a solid plan and I stick with my plans.”

Although Wayne maybe retiring from rap within the next seven years, he expects that he’ll still have a hand in music (and money in his wallet) thanks to his Young Money protégés Drake and Nicki Minaj, who he foreseeS having long careers.

“… Nicki and Drake are brand new and they’re definitely not one-hit wonders,” said Wayne, adding “I want them to do way better than I do [actually]. I get paid for that. I just wish them the best.”

So what exactly does one of  hip-hop’s leading men plan to do once he retires?

“I’m gonna be a dad,” said Wayne, who’s fathered four kids with celebrity women, including Antonia “Toya” Carter, Nivea and Lauren London.

Do you think Wayne will really retire at 35 or do you think he’ll eventually return like Jay-Z did?
