Atlanta Botanical Gardens added to the array of beautiful flowers on Thursday, May 12 as guests turned out to ooh and aah at one-of-a-kind designs marching down the fashion runway. IIDA, Georgia Chapter, hosted it an annual design coupe where they meld Atlanta’s most talented interior designers and architects with architectural and design industry manufactures and the magic begins. Teams of two to five designers create a Project Runway-like experience in which they are challenged to construct a unique, wearable garment from non traditional materials.
Participating designers have put together outfits using products from event sponsors with items like wall coverings, flooring materials, paint … you get the point. The level of creativity is amazing and was well suited to the theme, which was Dressed in the Garden of Eden.
The fashion show was preceded with a cocktail hour in the V.I.P. section, where we could preview Caliber Enterprises models dressed in all white modeling fashions with fabulous accessories. Mini bites were served as well as Barefoot Wine. Shortly afterwards the crowd moved outdoors to the Rose Garden to take in the gorgeous visually.
The event was hosted by Atlanta Housewife, Cynthia Bailey, and she looked extra posh in her Zang Toi gown. Chair Derek Jayson Rusch and co-Chair Marcus Jackson welcomed everyone. They introduced the judges, Cheryl S.Durst, David Goodrowe, Juan Hernandez, Jonathan Shapero, Stephanie Davis,Chris C. Van Duyne, Jill Vantosh, and Dr. Walter Fuller Young.
The fashion show winner, The Design Atelier/Maharam received $1,ooo.00 and an all expense paid trip to an island. The fantastic dress was adorned with constructed rosebuds. . It was absolutely darling. Thank you for the Pinktastic affair.
