After it was reported earlier this year that Beyoncé would star in a Clint Eastwood-directed fourth remake of the ’30’s classic, A Star Is Born, many were left wondering who would play the 4 singer’s leading man in the film. Now, reports are claiming that Leonardo DiCaprio may be the A-List actor heating up the screen alongside Beyoncé.
According to Deadline, sources claim that Eastwood, who’s currently directing a J. Edgar Hoover biopic, J. Edgar, starring DiCaprio, has been discussing A Star Is Born with the Titanic star and wants DiCaprio to take the role of the film’s leading man, an aging rock star who mentors and marries a young singer (Beyoncé), then watches as his career fades and hers soars.
Early reports claimed that there had been initial talks of pairing Beyoncé with Will Smith or Russell Crowe. Reports also surfaced alleging that Crowe had become a frontrunner for the role and would engage in a steamy sex scene with the “Crazy In Love” singer.
Although many fans would’ve undoubtedly enjoyed seeing Beyoncé star alongside Smith or Crowe in the film, which is being developed as a vehicle for Beyoncé’s acting career, it’s undeniable that the film will benefit from an interracial love story with one of Hollywood’s few box-office powerhouses, DiCaprio. –nicholas robinson
