Taraji P. Henson, Idris Elba, Laurence Fishburne and Sanaa Lathan Among Black Emmy Nominees!!

Taraji P. Henson, Idris Elba, Laurence Fishburne and Sanaa Lathan are among several presitigious Black actors/actresses that were just nominated for the 2011 Primetime Emmy Awards! According to reports:


Taraji P. Henson was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Mini-Series/Movie for her touching portrayal of a mother searching for her son in the Lifetime movie, “Taken From Me: The Tiffany Rubin Story.”

Idris Elba landed a nod for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Mini-Series/Movie for his Birtish psychological crime drama title role in “Luther” on BBC One.  And vet Laurence Fishburne was nominated in the same category for his “Thurgood Marshall” role on HBO.  Idris also copped a nod for Outstanding Guest Actor In A Comedy Series for his role on “the Big C” on Showtime.

“Late Night With Jimmy Fallon”–which stars house band The Roots–grabbed a nod for Oustanding Variety Show.  While Tracy Morgan & “30 Rock” were nominated for Outstanding Comedy series and other categories.  And “The Cleveland Show” –with actors Reagan Gomez, Sanaa Lathan, and more–landed a nomination for Outstanding Animated Series.

For Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series– Loretta Devine was nominated for playing the Chief’s wife/ex-wife, Adele Webber, on “Grey’s Anatomy.”  And Alfre Woodard was nominated for playing “Lafayette’s mom on “True Blood”–Ruby Jean Reynolds.
