Agave

242 Boulevard SE, Atlanta, Ga. 30312, 404.588.0006

Historic Cabbagetown is but a stone’s throw from the Georgia World Congress Center, it’s here you’ll find Agave, the spot that constantly suffers accolades like “Best Southwestern Cuisine” in the city of Atlanta. Although its an appetizer, chef-proprietor Jack Sobel’s New Mexico Hatch Green Chile Stew — a traditional New Mexico stew with hatch green chile, tenderloin beef tips, potatoes, onions and corn — is a must-have. Partial to the famous Cayenne Oven Fried Chicken, the Spicy Tequila Anejo Shrimp — jumbo fresh gulf shrimp grilled, and then sautéed in a fresh lime and tequila cream sauce, served with a jalapeño and cheddar stone ground grits cake and grilled asparagus — is not to be missed either.

Six Feet Under

437 Memorial Dr. SE, Atlanta, Ga. 30312, 404.523.6664

85 11th St., Atlanta, Ga. 30312, 404.810.0040

About one mile east or west of the convention site is one of two locations for local seafood fave Six Feet Under. Take your pick, the menu is spectacular in either direction. After a day of networking and tightening your 2012 action plan, you’ll deserve a plate of shrimp and scallops, baked in parchment with basil, black pepper and lemon. Served with homemade jalapeño tartar sauce, hush puppies and two sides.

Rathbun’s Restaurant

Suite R, 112 Krog St., Atlanta, Ga. 30307, 404.524.8280

This is serious foody stuff. Chef Kevin Rathbun is a food critic darling in this town and the Eastern seaboard. With dishes like Braised Beef Short Rib Spaghetti Squash Carbonara and a Bantam Egg, is there any wonder?

Two Urban Licks

820 Ralph McGill, Atlanta, Ga. 30306, 404.522.4622

Located near the Carter Presidential Library, Two Urban Licks will delight you with its décor and menu. The cool watermelon salad is hands-down one of the best you’ll ever taste, as well as its Smoked BBQ Chicken with NY Cheddar Mac ‘n Cheese.

Wisteria

471 N Highland Ave., Atlanta, Ga. 30307, 404.525.3363

Housed in a century old building in Virginia Highlands, Wisteria’s cuisine is as wonderful as its romantic setting. Not to be missed: Chef Jason’s North Atlantic Skate Wing pan-seared with lemon brown butter over stone ground grits and roasted asparagus spears or 8-ounce Grilled Center Cut Beef Tenderloin with sharp cheddar, braised greens macaroni and cheese with a shallot and horseradish jus. Share the Granny’s carrot cake with Bourbon sauce, if you must. Just make sure you do.
