Books for Africa to Host Casino Night for Charity

One of the keys to stopping the ongoing issues that are prevalent in many under developed countries in Africa is to educate those who suffer most. Since 1988, Books For Africa has worked to eradicate illiteracy by shipping over 24 million books to African countries in need.

On Oct. 21, the organization will be hosting its 3rd Annual Casino Night & Social Affair to raise awareness and funding for this important cause. The chair of the event, Shannon Brown, discussed how the charity has changed lives.


How did you get involved with BFA?

My involved was a result of a career change. I am happy to be apart of the organization because of its simple mission to end the book          famine in Africa. This organization is producing tangible results and provides a way for the people of Africa to improve their quality of life through education.


 What are the benefits of this organization?

The major benefit of BFA is that this organization can change lives through education and volunteerism.

 How did the idea of the BFA Casino Night come about?

We wanted to create a way to raise funds and visibility for the organization but at  the same time create an event that would fun and entertaining.

 How has the event helped to raise awareness and change lives?

This event has helped raise awareness by getting a group of diverse and committed volunteers to work with us to spread the word about the organization and event in their communities and workplace.

This fundraising event will be held at STATS Food Play located at 300 Marietta Street, NW, Atlanta, Georgia, 30313 from 6:00 PM until 10:00 PM.
