In what has to be one of the most spectacular personal reinvention acts in entertainment history, MC Hammer is considered one of the foremost geniuses of the social media revolution. This past week in San Francisco, Hammer demonstrated a new technique to enhance searches that gives results that would be logical follow-ups.
Hammer, who is also the chief strategy officer for DanceJam.com, is developing a “deep search” engine service that will give searchers results related to the keywords entered. For example, if a person writes “car” and “homes” into the search engine, Hammer demonstrated how the results would provide information on everything from insurance, mileage, community, schools, location, crime rates and shopping options.
At the Web 2.0 Summit, Hammer explained in the presentation that WireDoo, still in development stages will reduce the time to get information relevant to the search. His tagline is “Search once, see what relates!” However, the “deep search or “relationship search” is not designed as a competititve attempt to recreate search,” he elucidated, “you can always make things better.
Hammer’s career resurrection is spellbinding and almost unprecedented. After rising to become one of the most commercially-successful hip hop artists of all time through classics like “U Can’t Touch This”, he plunged precipitiously career-wise and landed in bankruptcy in 1996 and became the object of scorn, ridicule and parody. He is now considered a major American influencer in social media with 2.2 million followers on Twitter and is an investor in eight high-tech companies. –terry shropshire
