Floyd Mayweather TKO'd in Las Vegas Court Room With 90-Day Prison Sentence

Floyd Mayweather will not be training for a potential fight with Manny Paqcuiao  anytime soon. Mayweather has been sentenced to 90 days in jail after he pleaded guilty to domestic violence battery and harassment charges.

The charges stemmed from an incident between Mayweather and his ex-girlfriend, Josie Harris,  in September 2010. According to reports, Mayweather threatened to kill Harris during an argument and took her cell phone.

Mayweather could have faced more than 30 years in prison if he had been convicted, but he decided to avoid a trial by pleading guilty. His attorney suggested that community service would be in their client’s best interest. However, the judge decided to sentence Mayweather to jail time after he admitted to hitting Harris and twisting her arm in front of their two children.

Mayweather claimed that he was preparing to fight Paqcuiao on May 5, 2012, in a video that was released at the end of November.

However, with Mayweather’s prison sentence, it’s likely that two of the best pound-for-pound pugilists will not fight until the summer of 2012. –amir shaw
