With Drake’s music career steadily on the rise, thanks to his chart-topping sophomore album, Take Care, and some high-profile beefs, many have wondered if the former child star would make his way back to film or TV anytime soon. But in a recent interview with VH1, the actor-turned-rapper said that he’s ready to make his way back to the big screen in a big way by playing our nation’s current commander in chief, President Barack Obama.
“I hope somebody makes a movie about Obama’s life soon because I could play him,” said the Toronto-born emcee. “That’s the goal. I watch all the addresses. Anytime I see him on TV, I don’t change the channel, I definitely pay attention and listen to the inflections of his voice. If you ask anyone who knows me, I’m pretty good at impressions.”
We’re not sure that Drake has a mature enough look to play a current day Obama just yet, but it’s safe to say that he would probably do well playing a younger version of the president. Plus, it would be nice to see another black president on the silver screen again. Check out our list of other black stars who’ve played the commander in chief below. –nicholas robinson
