According to the Huffington Post, the series, which will air on Sky Living network, will center on a group of aspiring designers who will compete to dress Rihanna. The winner of the competition will get to design Rihanna’s outfit for her Wireless performance in Hyde Park in July. Rihanna will be heavily involved in the casting of the show and will also serve as executive producer, while Nicola Roberts of the British girl group Girls Aloud serves as the show’s host, at the request of Rihanna herself.
“The show will celebrate the extraordinary talent and creativity in the British fashion scene. With Rihanna a fashion icon in her own right, and Dainty Doll make-up creator Nicola at the helm, the show will emphasize the increasing influence pop stars have on mainstream trends.”
This won’t be the first time Rihanna has worked in the world of fashion. Over the years, Rihanna has had fashion campaigns for the likes of CoverGirl, Gucci and most recently Giorgio Armani. Rihanna also designed a limited edition celebrity collection for Armani Jeans. And according to the singer, making the decision to work on the series was a no brainer, thanks to her love of fashion.
“I’ve always had a great love of fashion. It’s a constant source of inspiration in my life, and [it] is a big reason why I’ve grown into the person and artist I am today.”
The still untitled series will air this summer in the U.K. It’s unclear whether the series will be shown here in the states, but we’re sure fans will be able to find it on YouTube. Below, you can check out other artists who are also making a mark in the fashion world. –nicholas robinson
