Scarface Learns the Hard Way About Child Support

Scarface saw his world completely put on pause in October 2010, when he was placed in jail for 11 months for failure to pay $123,000 in child support. But according to the Houston rapper, the problem wasn’t that he didn’t pay — it was that he failed to keep records of his payments.

“In the system, when your kids get grown and you pay all this money direct and it’s time for the money to stop being issued out, they gonna want to appeal because there ain’t no more money coming in no more.” Scarface explained on the May 9 epsidode of MTV’s “RapFix Live.” “So they may go and say you ain’t pay nothing, so that how it go.”

Scarface argues that if he wasn’t paying child support, then why didn’t his child’s mother take him to court sooner?

“Twenty-one years? C’mon, man. You want to do it now, 21 years later?” he questioned. “Why you ain’t do that 20 years ago, if it really was what it was?”

Despite his child-support drama, Scarface claims that he’s just ready to move on with his live and offer words of wisdom to other men paying child support.

“It was an experience that I like to touch on and not dwell on,” he said. “It was a learning experience, and my advice to any father out there is that if you send anything, you send it through the courts. That’s the best way to do, because at the end of the day, you not gonna get no credit for it.”

Unfortunately, Scarface isn’t the only star to deal with baby mama drama. Check out this list of other celebs who’ve had child support issues. –nicholas robinson
