Monica Talks 'Basketball Wives,' Says She Respects Them

Monica Brown, the real life ‘basketball wife,’ mother and entertainer, is voicing her support for a reality TV program that’s is currently being slung through the mud with petitions and lawsuits over its participant’s rambunctious behavior. Brown, the wife of Phoenix Sun Shannon Brown, recently voiced her support of the ‘wives’ with HipHollywood and explained that while her situation is “totally different,” she respects their entrepreneurial spirit. “I respect the women on basketball wives because I think that that’s their truth,” said Brown. “Mines is totally different, but I respect them because they use that show as a platform to do other things that they love; they own stores, they own cosmetics, they own so many different things. So I don’t have any issues with ‘Basketball Wives’ at all because I think they are telling their truth. My truth is not like that,” she added.

In recent weeks Evelyn Lozada and friends have been the subject of a change.org petition asking that a forthcoming  ‘Eve & Ocho’ spin-off show be canceled. On a much smaller scale, celebs like Star Jones have spoken out against them for “acting like animals.” Despite that, it’s interesting to see the ladies garner support from an actual NBA wife with the ring included.
