Audra McDonald became one of the youngest Broadway performers to win several Tony Awards. By the time she was 28, she had won Tony Awards for her performances in Carousel, Master Class and Ragtime. Rashad became the first black American woman to win the leading actress Tony Award for her performance in A Raisin in the Sun in 2004. She also starred in Broadway hits such as Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The Wiz and Jelly’s Last Jam.
