Blue Ivy Carter Made Honorary Citizen of Croatia

Superstar baby Blue Ivy Carter, the daughter of Jay-Z and Beyoncé, may be a New York baby through and through, but thanks to her superstar mom, Blue Ivy is now an official citizen of an island after Bey named her daughter after a local tree.

Last summer, while Beyoncé was pregnant, she and Jay-Z vacationed on the island of Croatia. While enjoying a morning stroll, the couple filmed Bey in front of a blue tree in Hvar, an island in the Adriatic Sea.

In the video, which was posted on Bey’s popular Tumblr page, Bey can be heard saying, “I think it’s Blue Ivy, which would be quite appropriate!”  Fans later discovered tat Bey was hinting at the name of her daughter.

And now the mayor of Hvar has made Blue Ivy an honorary citizen of his city.

“The story of the origin of your girl’s name, Blue Ivy, has brought huge media attention and great tourism promotion to the town of Hvar,” said Mayor Pjerino Bebic in a letter sent to the couple, according to local news portal Dalmacija News.

“I have decided to grant your daughter the status of honorary citizen of the town,” added Bebic

Bebic also invited the couple to return to the island, and we’re sure Jay and Bey’s daughter will be given the royal treatment if they do.

Congratulations to Blue Ivy on her new citizenship and below you can check out some other stars who gained citizenship in other nations.  –nicholas robinson
