1. Fisherman – 29 deaths (116 per 100,000 workers)

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, fishing has been the most dangerous occupation in the U.S. since 1992. Malfunctioning equipment, inclement weather and transportation incidents all contribute to this high risk, low reward position. Fisherman reportedly make only $25,000 a year.
