Nicki Minaj Reportedly Joining Mariah Carey On ‘Idol’
In a surprising turn of events, Nicki Minaj has been named as the latest judge on the next season of American Idol. US Weekly reports that two separate sources confirmed that the rapper would join Mariah Carey as the latest celebrity judge for the competition. “I’m not sure the deal is completely done yet, but yes, she is definitely doing it,” an insider said on Nicki’s signing. “A few more slight things to sign off on but it is happening.”A second source confirmed to the publication that the “Super Bass” rapper, 29, was “100% confirmed” for the FOX reality show.
Before today’s surprise announcement Minaj went on Twitter rampage, calling out people who criticized for her canceling a series of European tour dates. “I am so thankful to my true fans who understand WHY I couldn’t play #VFestival & WHY I can’t play Dublin,” she wrote. “However, if u have anything negative to say to me, please #EatSh–AndDie – I am human.” The singer is said to be on vocal rest per a doctor’s orders.
In addition to spewing out expletives for her legions of impressionable fans to see, Minaj hinted towards a surprise that very well could have been today’s American Idol announcement. “Ok barbz, getting another x-ray,” wrote Minaj. “When I get back, I’ll have a surprise for u. *kisses u, hugs u*.”
Producers for the program are said to be considering Pharrell Williams and Joe Jonas for the other two vacant judge’s chairs this season. -danielle canada
