LeBron James and Nike caught flack after a report by the Wall Street Journal suggested that the new LeBron X will retail for $315. The story created a backlash and caught the attention of the National Urban League.
The organization released a statement saying the price was too steep to be marketed to teens and urged Nike to drop the $300 price tag.
Nike Inc. responded to the story by saying the LeBron X will likely retail for $180. Nike also pointed out that there are LeBron sneakers available for $110 and $120.
However, Nike will also release a higher-end version of the LeBron X that will be released exclusively and available at select locations. Nike has yet to release the price of the high-end version of the LeBron X.
